If you are a member of the pension Scheme and an employee, you are an 'active' member
If you have left the Scheme but not yet taken your benefits, you are a 'deferred' member
If you have already taken your benefits from the Scheme, you are a 'pensioner' member.
If you joined the group before April 2006 you are likely to be a member of the defined benefit (DB) pension scheme. This scheme closed to new entrants in April 2006.
